Nigeria must not keep borrowing — SenatePresident

On Monday, the president of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, said Nigeria should not continue borrowing.
He said Nigeria should have sufficient funding to satisfy its needs.
He accused entities generating revenue of not giving the federal government adequate money.
This has contributed to inadequate government revenue, he says.

He said this in Abuja during the third convocation of the University of Benin/National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, for postgraduate programmes.
Lawan stated “Today Nigeria is faced with the problem of availability of revenue. The time has come for National Assembly to continuously engage with revenue-generating agencies. We have to take the bull by the horn and look for our revenue wherever they are.”
Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, Director-General, NILDS, said 65 graduates were conferred with different master degrees.
They featured 28 Legislative Studies graduates; 15 Legislative Drafting and 22 Parliamentary Programmes
A former president of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, present at the convocation regretted the country’s poor infrastructure.
