Ronaldo set for recall against Genoa.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return from a brief rest on Wednesday against a Genoa side who are now under the management of former Italy midfielder Thiago Motta.

Ronaldo forward was out of action during Saturday’s 1 – 1 draw at recently promoted Lecce due to fatigue, though manager Maurizio Sarri avoided blaming Ronaldo’s absence for the dropped points.

The current Seria A champions will face city rivals Torino this weekend before playing Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League on November 6, and defender Leonardo Bonucci urging his team-mates to quickly move on from the Lecce disappointment.

In his words, “We have to roll up our sleeves and be even more determined – and learn quickly too , otherwise we can end up dropping important points,” Bonucci.

“That’s what happened ( Saturday) . Luckily we have a chance to get straight back to winning ways on Wednesday .”

Thaigo Motta ’s debut as Genoa coach resulted in a 3 -1 win over Brescia, a remarkable match in which all three of his team’s substitutes scored, a first in Serie A history.

“The lads were extraordinary from the first to the last minute ,” said Motta , who spent the 2008- 09 season at Genoa before playing for Inter team under Jose Mourinho that won the treble the following campaign.
